The band's name is derived from "ling-chi" (凌遲), a method of torture and execution officially employed in China until 1905 and also known as "slow slicing" or, more dramatically, "death by a thousand cuts" - which is also the title of Leng Tch'e's debut album.
After Sven de Caluwé's departure in 2007, none of the original members are involved in the band anymore.
